CANBERRA, Feb 16 AAP - The main stories in today's Canberra Times:
Page 1: The federal takeover of primary healthcare, one-stop medical clinics and a
new scheme to improve care for the chronically ill are the findings of a new health report
to be released today. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd visits Wandong where he attends a memorial
service with the bushfire-affected community. Deputy Liberal leader Julie Bishop is being
criticised for following Malcolm Turnbull's script of having no plans, no suggestions
and playing politics, Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard says. The Rudd government has
ruled out an early election and tax increases but public service cuts are once again on
the agenda. The National Trust is concerned Canberra's Lake Burley Griffin is at threat
from over development.
Page 2: The ACT Opposition says the government has adopted only 35 of 61 recommendations
from the Canberra bushfires inquiry, when they should adopt them all.
Page 3: Residents of Traralgon South dodge road blocks to go into parts of the burnt
community to help out victims who lost their homes.
World: US President Barack Obama is about to sign the newly passed $US787 billion economic
stimulus package.
Finance: The world's richest nations are calling for urgent fiscal reforms to save
the world from economic devastation that continues to drag more countries into debt.
Sport: Players left out of the ACT Brumbies' opening Super 14 match can force their
