FED:Election on a knife-edge: Newspoll

Labor has lost its substantial two-party preferred lead against the coalition in just
two weeks .. according to the latest Newspoll in The Australian newspaper.

The poll .. taken between Friday and Sunday .. found Labor and the coalition are split 50-50.

Only two weeks ago .. Newspoll reported that Labor had scored a 55 to 45 lead over the coalition.

Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD still leads Opposition Leader TONY ABBOTT as preferred
prime minister .. with an unchanged 50 to 35 per cent.

But in the past two weeks .. Ms GILLARD has lost seven points as preferred PM .. while
Mr ABBOTT'S rating has risen eight points.
