MARANA
1 - A resident at Orange Grove Village apartments, 3500 W. OrangeGrove Road, called police at 3:15 p.m. March 20. She said she hadreceived obscene calls on her cellular phone for three days. Shetold police that each call was more sexually explicit than the last.She said she had never encouraged the caller and hadn't noticedanything unusual or weird during her daily routine. The officer toldher to notify police if anything else happened and suggested shechange her phone number.
2 - A 22-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant forfailure to appear from Oro Valley at 10:02 p.m. March 19 after atraffic stop at West Orange Grove and North Thornydale roads. Policefound a plastic bag of marijuana, two metal pushrods and a smokingpipe in the car. The man was cited and released for possession ofmarijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked intothe Pima County jail on the warrant.
3 - Vandalism at the Marana Unified School District bus barn,11279 W. Grier Road, was reported to police at 9:52 a.m. March 19.An employee told police that someone had discharged the fireextinguishers inside two buses, and the extinguishers were missing.
4 - A resident in the 13400 block of North Galleno Avenue calledpolice at 10:07 a.m. March 19 to report vandalism and theft. He saidsomeone shattered the window on the phone booth in his front yardand took the Superman costume inside.
PIMA COUNTY
5 - Check fraud was reported at 6:40 p.m. March 16 in the 3400block of West Alana Lane. A resident said she recanted on a purchaseshe made from Apex Alarms and got all her paperwork, including heroriginal check, back. She told deputies she discovered that someonewho works for the Phoenix company cashed a forged check for $100 onher account.
6 - A 1994 Dodge Intrepid was reported stolen at 5:39 p.m. onMarch 16 in the 6100 block of North Peppertree Lane. The man whoreported the theft told deputies he was in the process of buying thecar. A records check revealed the car did not belong to the personhe claimed owned it. Deputies contacted the owner, and she said sheleft the car at her old address with permission of the landlord. Shetold deputies the car was gone when she tried to pick it up, but shenever reported it stolen.
7 - The general manager at Macayo's restaurant, 7360 N. OracleRoad, called to report a theft at 1:33 p.m. March 14. He said twosecurity cameras valued at more than $4,000 were taken after therestaurant closed the previous night. The cameras caught the thiefriding up on a bicycle. He used a ladder on the back of the buildingto climb up to the roof. He knocked out a light and took one camera.According to the report, it was unknown how the thief stole thesecond camera, which was mounted on a wall.
ORO VALLEY
8 - A resident in the 10600 block of North Rocky Slope Placecalled police at 2:12 p.m. March 24 to report Internet fraud. Shesaid that on March 7 she was given a "second chance" to get a timeshare in London after she was outbid on eBay on March 3. She saidshe was instructed via e-mail to wire $2,095 to an address inLondon. She said she called eBay because she hadn't gotten anyinformation on the time share. She told police an employee at eBaytold her someone else bought it, and she received no response fromthe e-mail address she had.
9 - A homeowner in the 10400 block of North Fair Desert Drivecalled police at 10:15 a.m. March 24 to report suspicious activity.She said a neighbor woman was harassing her family and seemed toointerested in her girls. The woman's husband said he wasn't sure ifthe neighbor was a man or a woman because she had stubble on herface. The officer talked to the neighbor and told her not to haveany further contact with the family.
10 - Two boys, ages 15 and 16, were cited for reckless burning at4:55 p.m. March 24 in a concrete culvert under a bridge on WestMoore Road just east of North Copper Spring Trail. The officer foundthe boys leaning over a small fire, and they said they were burninga pair of old shoes. They were released to their mothers.
